For centuries athletes have used training phases called GPP (general physical preparation.) This is training that is well rounded and addresses a wide range of fitness qualities. We continue to do this today even with highly specialized elite athletes because it builds a base of fitness to support high performance training.
Our CrossFit group training sessions provide detailed technique coaching, and the support of fellow participants for high energy motivation.
You train like an athlete and build or maintain a broad base of general fitness for the athlete in you, through constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity.
All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. By employing a constantly varied approach to training, functional movements and intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness.
INDIVIDUALIZED SMALL GROUP
We know a broad base of fitness provides a strong foundation to go after specific goals. That’s why we individualize our athletes’ programs to their unique characteristics and achieving their goals.
In the Thrive program a dedicated performance coach designs a fully customized program for you. An individual training plan makes sure your goals and current readiness are aligned to safely and effectively make the fastest progress possible.
In training sessions with just 3-4 people, clients receive a high level of personal attention while following their custom program. This process is supported by coach consultations, and individual plans for nutrition, injury prevention and regeneration. The most common targets for clients are;

Short Term Programs with Specialized Goals
The elite athletes and international athletes we work with enter specific training camps with a goal. Preparing for a season or tournament, they undertake an intensive and focused period of training. It’s a period of focus and training to improve a specific skill set or performance.
Training camps are short term programs that are designed to serve a specific goal. By focusing on a narrow target, we can train specifically for it and make faster gains. This training is supported with specific components of nutrition, recovery, and mindset to maximize gains.
You may have specific goals that are well suited to a training camp approach as well.
Velocity offers many different training camp through the year, typically for 4-6 weeks at a time. This may be a jumpstart to getting fit again with an on-ramp program before you’re ready for group classes. Or maybe its learning a specific skill like running technique, Olympic lifting, or a muscle up. Some training camps focus on preparing for an event like an Obstacle race or fitness competition.
Athletes who want to improve performance, reduce injury, improve recovery and sustain their professional careers longer, know nutrition is at the heart of the matter. From blood work and dieticians, through personal chefs and supplements, our elite athletes find ways to fuel their goals.
You can also take a page from the pro’s playbook and enroll in a nutrition program to help you achieve your goals. All clients receive basic nutrition guidelines, eating suggestions and support materials.
